James Haim Bicher MD is one of the pioneers in the area of Hyperthermia, and 26 years ago he founded the Valley Cancer Institute, where he is now the director. VCI has treated successfully patients from all over the world. Hyperthermia, combined together with low dose radiation, is an effective cancer treatment with low or no side effects.
Dr James Haim Bicher MD applies this method by heating the tumor up to approximately 104 degrees Fahrenheit with the use of localized Hyperthermia machines, and the treatment is not painful. The heat works to increase the circulation of the blood and it also oxygenates the blood, which increases oxygenation of the cancer cells. Cancer cells become more sensitive to radiation in the presence of oxygen; therefore, they become vulnerable and susceptible to destruction. Combining the low dose pinpointed radiation (IMRT) with heat is what makes the tumor deteriorate and disappear. Dr James Haim Bicher MD is the first one to use this combination. One additional thing that Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy does is treat just the tumor by taking on the tumor’s shape, which very often decreases the damage of the healthy tissue.
Specifically with breast cancer, the benefits of hyperthermia are invaluable; mastectomy can be avoided, so women do not have to be disfigured. Women would certainly choose Hyperthermia Therapy if they understood that this cure could leave them not only healty, but still womanly and beautiful, with the added benefit of having the lowest possibility of the cancer recurring. In most cases, having surgery and “cutting” the tumor is unsuccessful in getting rid of the cancer. Women do not lose their hair or feel weak; neither do their immune systems get exhausted in the effort of fighting cancer, which unfortunately is often noticed during chemotherapy or high dose (normal) radiation.
One very annoying and uncomfortable side effect of radiation therapy is what happens to the skin of the area being treated. Your skin reaction will resemble what happens when you get a sunburn, as it will have some redness or pink color, and will itch, burn, be sore, and possibly peel.
Chemotherapy, which is the other most common conventional treatment for cancer, uses medicine to weaken and destroy any cancer cells found at the original cancer site or any that have traveled to other parts in the body. Chemotherapy, often shortened to just “chemo,” is a systemic therapy, which means it affects the whole body by going through the bloodstream. The most common chemotherapy side effects are: anemia, diarrhea, fatigue, hair loss, nausea, memory loss and infection.
Dr Bicher has dedicated his whole life in the study, research and practice of Hyperthermia and its uncountable benefits, as he believes the human body should be harmed as little as possible when it is fighting cancer. Dr Bicher has presented this most recent research results at the Society of Thermal Medicine Meeting in Florda and at the XIX International Hyperthermia Society Meeting that took place in Koln, Germany.
The chances of the cancer returning decrease because it is the whole human organ that gets stronger and fights the cancer in a holistic manner. When a person is treated with the combination of low dose pinpointed radiation and Hyperthermia, he or she experiences better resullts with increased effectiveness and less side effects while at the same time improving survival and the quality of life.
